Terms & Conditions

PURPOSE
Stanislav Libenský Award (SLA) was established in 2009 as the world's only international glass exhibition, and graduates are called for entry. In each past collection, the display showed many excellent works of 627 artists from 42 countries and 76 universities.

Stanislav Libenský is considered the most outstanding Czech glasswork artist and pedagogue. His works created in collaboration with Jaroslava Brychtová are presented in museums and galleries worldwide. Besides his career, he taught at the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague; he was a director and pedagogue at the School of Applied Arts for Glassmaking in Železný Brod, where he also permanently lived and worked for most of his life.

The competition serves as an international presentation of young glass artists. It aims to help develop glass art in the young scene and compare different working approaches. The initiator and the main organizer, the Prague Gallery of Czech Glass, hopes this competition, followed by a long-term exhibition, will help young artists enter the business world and explore the potential of glass.

THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES APPLY ONLY TO NOMINEES SELECTED IN THE PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT.

However, please read them carefully to understand the entire exhibition process.

TRANSPORT

  • The candidates are fully responsible for the object's professional packing, organization, payment of transportation, and eventual insurance of the shipment both ways.

  • Damaged objects will not be included in the exhibition.

  • PGCG shall bear no liabilities for loss or damage to the works during transportation.

  • Works must arrive between November 15th and November 24th, 2026, via the shipping agent or at the time of installation (see below).

  • The packing should be suitable for the return shipment and marked with the applicant's name and the object's title.

  • Different rules apply to transportation from outside the EU – don't hesitate to get in touch with us individually before sending. PGCG will not cover customs duties or other fees related to international transport (although these are often waived).

INSTALLATION

  • If the participant plans to deliver and install their work personally, the installation dates are November 27, 28, and 29, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Personal attendance during installation is optional but recommended.

  • All object-specific necessities for placing the object must be included in the shipment, accompanied by clearly written instructions and visual materials for unpacking, repacking, and reassembling the object. The applicant should specify their preference for a lightning presentation. PGCG will attempt to comply with limits to these wishes (e.g., only part of the work will be exhibited due to its size). If the applicant has specific requirements (e.g., size of the pedestal, video, tablet), they must address them. PGCG will help them

  • However, PGCG shall bear no responsibility if the work is not correctly displayed in the final assessment and the exhibition due to its complicated assembly/installation requirements.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE WINNER OF SLA 2026

  • The final assessment will be held on November 30th, 2026

  • The official award ceremony – Gala Evening – will be held on November 30th, 2026

  • Personal attendance is highly recommended!

  • The opening of the exhibition will be held on the day of Gala evening.

  • All applicants (including the non-selected) will receive a VIP invitation for two persons.

  • All the selected during the preliminary assessment and submitted on time and in good condition will be exhibited at the exhibition Stanislav Libenský Award 2026

CATALOG

  • An exhibition catalog (Czech-English) containing images of all the selected works will be published online or in print.

  • The catalog will consist of the applicant's description of the work (artistic aim – annotation), technique, dimension, photo of the applicant, and the outcome. PGCG may choose which image will be selected for the catalog and partially (mainly shortening) modify the text. The texts will be translated into Czech and corrected by a proofreader.

  • Each applicant selected during the preliminary assessment will receive two free copies of the catalog.

MANAGEMENT OF WORKS DURING THE EXHIBITION

  • Intellectual property rights are used as follows: The organizer and other related public organizations shall be allowed unrestricted use of the rights to the submitted works for public relations and exhibition purposes. This shall include unrestricted use of the proposed digital images for the exhibition catalog and other material that publicizes the exhibition.

  • The intellectual property rights to the submitted work reside entirely with the artist. No time limit shall be placed on such use of the intellectual property rights.

  • The exhibited objects will be insured against fire, natural disaster, and theft, not against breakage.

MANAGEMENT OF WORKS AFTER THE EXHIBITION

  • Specify whether you agree to sell your work in the Application Form. If a prospective purchaser of the work and the applicant have decided to sell their work, PGCG will sell the artwork after the exhibition at a retail price calculated based on the Artist's Price.

  • In case of interest, the work can be moved after the exhibition to the premises of PGCG (the exact period will be specified in the contract). In such a case, a new License Agreement needs to be signed. The exhibiting space at the PGCG premises is less ample than that of the exhibiting venues. Therefore, not all objects can be exhibited there. PGCG may not accept some of the artwork for exhibition. If the work is not purchased during the show or presentation at PGCG premises and the applicant does not request its return, it may be donated to PGCG's permanent collection. Therefore, on the assumption of such a case, specify your choice in the Borrowing Contract.

DE-INSTALLATION AND RETURN OF WORKS

  • De-installation will take place after the exhibition ends, directly at the exhibition venue on February 1st, 2027, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

  • If none of those mentioned above options (sold, exhibited in PGCG, or donated to PGCG) apply, these works must be returned. The applicant is responsible for organizing and paying for their own transportation back.

  • We can store the work for one month free of charge. After that, we will charge 10 EUR per day. Works not collected within six months will be forfeited to the Prague Glass Gallery.

  • The official art specialists will be responsible for repacking the works. If any damage is found in the object upon receipt, the applicant shall contact the shipping company for negotiation, not PGCG.

  • Regarding the conditions for returning work outside the EU, please don't hesitate to contact us individually.
