FAQ

Do I need to be enrolled at a university to apply?

No. While graduates of Bachelor's or Master's programmes from 2025 or 2026 are welcome to apply, the competition is also open to any artist under the age of 25 — regardless of whether they are currently studying. What matters is the work, not your academic status.

Can I apply if I work outside of Europe?

Absolutely. The Stanislav Libenský Award is a fully international competition. Artists from all countries are welcome to apply. Please note that specific shipping and customs rules apply to works sent from outside the EU — we will provide detailed instructions to all nominated artists after the preselection.

My work uses materials other than glass — can I still apply?

Yes, as long as glass is the primary material both visually and physically. Works where glass plays only a minor or decorative role will not be accepted. There are no restrictions on technique — cast, blown, slumped, cold-worked, and mixed-media approaches are all welcome.

What happens if my work is selected?

You will be notified by email on September 15, 2026, and receive a Borrowing Contract. Your work will be exhibited at Clam-Gallas Palace in Prague from December 1, 2026 to January 31, 2027. You will also receive two complimentary copies of the exhibition catalogue and a VIP invitation for two guests to the Gala Evening on November 30.

Is there an entry fee, and what does it cover?

Yes, there is a non-refundable administration fee. Applications submitted by June 30th are charged EUR 79 (early bird rate). From July 1st onwards, the fee is EUR 89. This covers the processing of your application, jury assessment, and — if selected — inclusion in the printed and digital exhibition catalogue, professional installation of your work, and basic insurance coverage during the exhibition.
